Ensure that the baby's swaddle is not too tight, restricting their breathing, or too loose, allowing for movement and tangling. Do not cover the baby's head. If using blankets or a basket, make sure the baby's head is not covered and that the coverings are securely fastened and do not exceed the shoulder height. To prevent the baby from getting trapped under the covers, always place them in the "feet to foot" position, meaning with their feet at the bottom end of the basket.
